Trive City

Thrive City is a community-based non-profit which seeks to provide opportunity for ALL people to thrive together. The goal of Thrive City is to improve the likelihood of local youth to be academically, socially, and personally successful. Thrive City gathers the community together to join youth on that journey through engaging and relevant activities, discussions, and experiences so they can be ready for life beyond the high school experience.

The "Experiencing Seattle: From Failing to Thriving" curriculum, taught as a 5-day mini-course at Scriber Lake High School since 2009, engages students in an exploration of avenues leading to self-awareness and expression, decision-making, and personal empowerment for positive life choices. As part of this program, student-participants take field trips to various locations throughout the Pacific Northwest where they meet with community partners to examine real issues facing people in our society. While gaining personal insight throughout the five FFTT Stages and City Themes, participants access tools for their “toolbelts” such as, “Failure doesn’t need to define me; Actions have consequences; and Isolation can be dangerous” in order to maintain a thriving state throughout the future highs and lows life may offer.

With over 100 program alumni since 2009, past participants view this program as a great way to learn about accessing resources, developing healthy relationships, and experiencing our city while connecting with self, peers, and the greater community.
